Course Description
This course covers key components of powerlifting (squat, bench, deadlift) and weightlifting (snatch, clean & jerk) and will review historic and new research related to mechanics and performance, common injuries and rehabilitation strategies.
This is a lab based course and you will be able to participate as you are - do not be intimidated as this is an inclusive and encouraging environment. Everyone should have access to strength in their life and this course makes it easier for the rehabilitation professional to integrate principles across the lifespan and across patient populations. We WILL cover some elements of adapting for different ages, neurological conditions and musculoskeletal conditions and address the unique role of the physical therapist in working with performance professionals such as coaches and trainers.
Above all, the goal is to have fun. You are giving your time and energy and we hope you come out of it empowered, excited, and confident to participate as a physical therapist with athletes of all types in the context of barbell training.
